New Stick & Stitch Patterns for Visible Mending
A new set of 4 pieces of water soluble stick and stitch patterns for visible mending or Sashiko stitching fabric are available in my etsy shop.
This pattern stitches up quickly and I’m super pleased with how it turned out! It’s going to look amazing on your pants, shirt, jacket, or whatever other soft goods you are trying to mend.
Click through to etsy to see the example piece I stitched in the listing photos. In the example, I know it looks like white thread but it’s actually this off-white cotton Sashiko thread from Olympus.
A true white thread is not my favorite color for visible mending because it’s going to quickly look dingy. You might as well start off just a shade darker and then it won’t be so obvious if it starts picking up dye in the laundry which is a thing that happens. Just like white clothing is hard to keep white, white thread is just as bad so I’m not really a fan.
When I stitched the example piece, I used these rubber thimbles for the first time and they are so great!
Someone shared these with me when I sent an email about my love of needle pullers (love, love, love them!) and these thimbles are just as cool. Part of why this pattern seemed quick to stitch was probably the thimbles.
Right now I only have the thimbles in the smaller size. I have medium size hands and this size is fine for me. Even though they have vent holes, they do get a little sweaty so when that happens, it’s a sign it’s time to take a break. I will have larger sizes of these available soon. They are on my list to begin stocking!
