Medium & Large Clover Flexible Thimbles

Medium and large size flexible thimbles are now available in my etsy shop and I’m pretty excited about stocking them because they are so great for hand stitching!

These are called thimbles but they are better described as needle pullers.

By definition a thimble is used to protect fingers from being poked by the needle tip and also to help push the needle through the fabric. These will do those things but not nearly as well as a metal thimble.

But what they do amazingly well is to help you grasp the needle and pull it through the fabric. In the past, I’ve resorted to using pliers for this and that does work but they eventually bend the needle shaft.

These flexible thimbles are also fairly comfortable!

Metal thimbles are notorious for being awkward and uncomfortable to wear and use which is why a lot of people skip them. But these are soft and flexible and the vent holes do help keep your fingers breath. They’ll probably still get sweaty but once they start to get too warm that’s a good hint to take a break from stitching.

I’ve had the small/medium set for a while now and use them every time I hand stitch now. The small/medium set is different than the medium and large sets in it comes with two slightly different sizes (14mm & 16mm) so you can wear one on your thumb and one on your index finger.

The medium and large contain two flexible thimbles of the same size and the images from the manufacturer show just one thimble being worn on the thumb. I tried this out and yes, it totally works just wearing one! It’s also even more comfortable to just use the one.

But if you want to wear both at once, give it a try. They are stretchy and form fitting so even though both are the same size in the medium and large, I think it’s still going to be fine.
