3 Reasons to Sew Your Own Grocery Bags

#1 - You’ll remember them!

We value things that we invest our time and resources in and once you make your own shopping bags, you are going to want to use them.

My bags live in a basket in the kitchen and because I have an investment of time and fabric I almost always remember to take them with me. Every once in a while I do forget them, or don’t bring quite enough of them, but it is rare.

#2 - You will get lots of compliments at the store!

These bags are conversation pieces. If your store doesn’t have self-checkout or you don’t use it all the time (recommended—we need to interact with other people), the clerk is probably going to comment on how nice your bags are, or how funny/cool/interesting they are and ask if you made them. Which of course, you get to answer with: “Yes, I did!!!”.

It gives you something to chat about besides the weather and it feels good to have the validation of someone else saying something positive about something you took the time to make.

#3 - It will give you a sense of accomplishment!

One of the reasons we dislike having unfinished projects of any sort is we don’t get that sense of accomplishment. We crave that feeling of getting something done and the purpose and satisfaction of completing something.

Sewing your own grocery shopping bags feels fantastic! Making anything that turns out good enough feels wonderful and because these market bags are so useful, you get to feel that feeling over and over.
