About

Welcome to my pattern shop! My name is Michelle and my love and respect for sewing comes from having a mother who is both an excellent seamstress and a fearless upholsterer. For most of my life I have been surrounded by fabric and sewing tools.

In 2005 I opened a shop on etsy and posted a few bags I'd made and had stored away. Less than two weeks later I made my first sale and suddenly had my own business. About three years into my venture I began translating my sewing knowledge into making patterns for you to enjoy and create your own beautiful accessories!

I have a Bachelor of Science degree in Journalism. Before becoming a pattern maker I spent several years in advertising/marketing, and then worked for 8 years as a commercial insurance underwriter. As an underwriter, I often had to explain complex insurance concepts to others--mostly in writing. My writing background has helped me craft well written instructions so you (hopefully) won't have to scratch your head wondering what exactly you are supposed to be doing. Like most of you I've muddled through many sewing patterns saying "what???", "huh?" and sometimes "$#%#@!". If you look at my etsy feedback you will see that many people leave compliments regarding the clarity of the instructions.

All my patterns are designed to be simple to complete in 1-3 hours. They are great to have on hand for making a quick gift, making things to sell in your own online shop (yes, you really can!), or when you just want to start a project and get it done one afternoon.

When you purchase a pattern you can ask me questions if you don't understand something. I also have a blog where you will find extra sewing tips, a few free sewing projects and some other random stuff. The tips are all listed in the "general sewing tips" category.

Please read my shop policies for information about my pattern copyright policy, return policy, etc.
